Powell signs with Dubai Capitals for Global Super League

Kaieteur Sports – West Indies allrounder Rovman Powell is set to bring his explosive talents to the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL), having been signed by reigning ILT20 champions Dubai Capitals ahead of the tournament’s launch in Guyana from July 10 to 18.
The former West Indies T20 captain and ILT20 Final MVP, is expected to be the centerpiece of the Capitals’ high-octane batting lineup. Known for his power-hitting and match-winning presence at the crease, Powell’s addition underscores the franchise’s ambition to extend its dominance from the UAE to the Caribbean.
The Dubai Capitals, who lit up the International League T20 with their title-winning run, have assembled a dynamic squad featuring a potent mix of international stars and Caribbean firepower for the Guyana-based tournament. Backing Powell will be Barbados-born big-hitter Kadeem Alleyne and left-arm pacer Dominic Drakes, whose speed and experience will spearhead the bowling attack.
The squad also includes international talents such as Pakistani pacer Farhan Khan, Canadian left-armer Kaleem Sana-Ur-Rahman, and UAE’s Zeeshan Naseer. Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella, Afghanistan’s Sediqullah Atal, and South African spinner Keshav Maharaj add further depth and global flair to the lineup.
Dubai’s campaign will begin with a blockbuster clash against Australia’s Hobart Hurricanes XI on Friday, July 11 at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence, setting the tone for what is expected to be a high-energy competition.
This year’s GSL brings together five elite franchises from across the cricketing world: Hobart Hurricanes XI (Australia), Rangpur Riders (Bangladesh), Central Stags (New Zealand), the host team Guyana Amazon Warriors (West Indies), and the Dubai Capitals.With Powell set to light up Providence once more—this time in franchise colours—the Dubai Capitals look poised to unleash a storm of entertainment as they chase a new crown in South America.
