Kaieteur News – Alfred De Jonge, the boyfriend of 22-year-old Stacy Walton, who died in an accident on Friday along the Number 7 Public Road, East Berbice will be arraigned at the Reliance Magistrates’ Court today.
Police in a statement Tuesday night said that the accident occurred at approximately 01:50h Friday and involved motor car #PAG 2279, owned by De Jonge of Lot 7-17 Charlotte Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice, and driven by Walton who lived on Alexander Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Reports are Walton was imbibing earlier in the evening, after which she drove the car proceeding west on the southern drive lane of No. 7 Public Road.
“She was wearing her seat belt at the time when she lost control of the car, which ended up in a trench on the southern side of the road. The car, which was partially submerged, was spotted by public-spirited citizens who assisted in removing the driver, who was in an unconscious condition, and conveyed her to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital,” police said.
Walton was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
