Kaieteur News – A 25-year-old resident of East Berbice Corentyne died early Monday morning, while another sustained minor injuries after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a cow along the Stanleytown Public Road, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Dead is Jamal Hughes of Glasgow Village, East Berbice Corentyne while 24-year-old Marashia Dehart of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam was injured.
Police in a statement said that the incident occurred at approximately 12:30h. Hughes was the rider of the motorcycle bearing registration number CP 2700 and Dehart, the pillion rider.
“Initial investigations revealed that Hughes and Dehart were proceeding south along the aforementioned road on the motorcycle, allegedly at a fast rate, when the cycle collided with the cow, which was crossing from east to west,” police said.
