Kaieteur News – The Mabura Police Station in Region 10 will soon be reconstructed, the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office disclosed during a recent opening of bids.
Twenty-one contractors have since applied for the contract bidding between $89million and $215 million for the works.
Kaieteur News understands that this project will form part of the $4.7 billion the government set aside to bridge the gap of the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) infrastructural needs.
It was reported that the reconstruction of the police stations and other facilities are aimed at transforming the decades-old buildings and their environment into ones that are more modern, accommodating and ‘user-friendly’ to visitors and ranks that are stationed at the facilities.
Meanwhile, Kaieteur News understands that the Ministry of Home Affairs plans to construct a fence at the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) building located at Eve Leary. These works are estimated to cost $40.1 million.
