Kaieteur News – These days, when police try to arrest people, is like a boxing match break out. People ducking, weaving, and throwing fists like they training for the Olympics. Is like everybody reading some fake legal textbook that tell dem they got the “right to resist” once they feel de arrest “nah feel right.”
Dem boys seh de police don’t even get to finish saying, “You are under arres—” before a flying knee land in dem ribs. Then is phone camera come out, and suddenly, everybody turn human rights activist.
But leh we talk straight: resisting arrest ain’t some TikTok challenge. Is a crime. Full stop.
People forget that police ain’t just walking around looking for people to harass. Most of dem out there trying to maintain order in a place where plenty people allergic to law and structure. De job of a police is not a fashion parade. Is long hours, low pay, and the lovely risk of getting a black eye just for telling somebody, “You can’t park yah.”
And let’s be real—if people didn’t break the law, there’d be no reason for a lawman to arrest them. Yet somehow, every scamp that get ketch doing something wrong want to play victim.
Dem boys seh people vex when police use force. Yes, the law say force must be proportionate to the threat—not turn the suspect into mashed potato—but if a man got a cutlass, yuh can’t expect de police to show up with a holy book and a smile.
When the police talk soft, people cuss dem. When they shout, people record dem. When they do nothing, people say they lazy. When they act, people say they brutal. De poor police can’t win.
But let one bandit rob somebody or steal someone’s Carl minibus, and is de same people shouting, “Where de police deh?!”
We quick to criticize, slow to praise. We only clap for police when they escort a wedding or play music at a funeral. Yet everyday, they walking into the unknown so the rest of we could sleep in peace and snore like diesel engine.
So next time you see a video of a man wrestling a cop, don’t rush to judgment. Ask yuhself: who really start the trouble?
Because resisting arrest might make you famous online, but it also might land you in a place where the only thing you resisting is the jail food.
Dem boys seh, if yuh can’t do de time, at least try not to punch the police in the meantime.
Talk half. Leff half
