Kaieteur News- Dem boys seh yesterday social media did light up like Christmas tree. People vex bad how some family dumping dem old people in de hospital like how people used to throw away old cassette tape when CD come out.
But dem boys seh, is not just hospital. Is home too. Some family got granny and granddaddy living under de same roof, but is like dem is ghost. Granny does holler for lil water whole day and nobody ain’t hearing. Is only when she dead, everybody does remember how she used to mek the best black cake.
Dem boys seh old people ain’t even getting de scraps no more. Dog getting kibble and gravy, but grandma getting dry bread and warm water. If dinner got five piece chicken and six people, guess who getting bun and cheese?
And is not like dem family running from hospital bill. Treatment free. Is just that dem done with dem old folks. Like if de people who raise dem, bathe dem, feed dem, send dem school, now turn burden ’cause dem moving slow and can’t pronounce “TikTok.”
One man seh he granny too miserable, so he drop she off at de hospital and never look back. But dem boys remember when he used to pee up de bed every night and she still used to kiss he forehead and call he “sweet boy.”
Now people posting long sermon on Facebook: “How could they abandon their own mother?” But dem boys seh, tek off de halo and check yuh own house. When last yuh sit down and talk with yuh old man or lady? When last yuh carry dem out fuh a lil breezepun de Seawall?
Dem boys seh is easy to talk ’bout other people cruelty when yuh own kindness still stuck in traffic.
Time to look in de mirror. Some of we treating old people like used battery—drain dem out, then fling dem away. But remember, age coming fuh all of we, and karma don’t use walker. She does run.
Talk half and go check if yuh granny eat yet.
Talk half. Leff half.
