Kaieteur News- The family of 11-year-old Adriana Younge, who tragically died under mysterious circumstances, has reaffirmed their commitment to seeking justice, despite facing public criticism and objections from government officials over their decision to pursue a second autopsy.
Adriana’s father, Subryan Younge, confirmed that the family will continue to press for answers surrounding her death, including flying her body to the United States for an independent examination by American pathologists.
Adriana’s lifeless body was recovered from a swimming pool at the Double Day Hotel in Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, on April 24—nearly 20 hours after she was reported missing during a family outing. The initial post-mortem examination (PME) was conducted on April 28 at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by government-appointed Barbadian pathologist Dr. Shubhakar Karra Paul. Two additional international experts—Dr. Gary L. Collins, Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Delaware, and Dr. Glenn A. Rudner of Mount Sinai Hospital in New York—also reviewed the case. All three concluded that Adriana died by drowning. However, they were unable to determine the exact time of death, and the toxicology report is still pending.
Despite these findings, the family has not yet received the preliminary autopsy report, leading to increased concerns about the transparency of the case.
Speaking in a live interview that circulated on social media, Subryan defended the family’s decision to seek a second autopsy “This is very simple,” Subryan said. “If I bring three doctor, one, two, three doctor, for give me a result, and all three doctor come to say, ‘Subryan, this foot here break,’ and I understand that these doctor say that my foot break—so now, if I go bring three more doctor to check back this same thing, I suppose to hear them tell me, ‘Subryan, the foot break.”
He further emphasized that the family’s pursuit of a second autopsy is not politically motivated. “I don’t see why people making this thing hard and so difficult. All I asking for is justice. I don’t want no one to see this as politics. I don’t know nothing about politics. I looking for justice for my 11-year-old daughter. I want to know what happen to my 11-year-old daughter.”
However, the decision to conduct a second autopsy has drawn criticism, particularly from government officials. Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Mohabir Nandlall, SC, expressed scepticism during his weekly program.
“Whether another post-mortem or forensic procedure would produce anything of value is a matter for those pursuing that course of action,” Nandlall stated. “My information is that it will be of very little or no value.”
He also questioned the necessity of a second autopsy, pointing out that the first examination involved three independent, international experts who all reached the same conclusion.
Despite the pushback, the Younge family remains firm in their decision to conduct a second autopsy and uncovering the truth surrounding Adriana’s death. Preparations are currently underway to have Adriana’s body flown to the United States either later this week or early next week for the second post-mortem examination.

As long as Adriana’s family willing to FUND another Autopsy on their own,
meaning, pay all the costs involved, including tests that may need, reports,
transport to overseas labs, the whole boat-full, by all means, they MUST be
allowed to carry this out to their satisfaction. After that, they MUST make
every effort to finally lay Adriana to rest.
Adriana died/drowned ? under a mystery, still to be solved…many believed.
Our own Keystone Kops blundered, mishandled, protecting those at the
Hotel- and they still have their jobs, including chief Hicken- they should have
been fired on the spot.
Very good! The family need to get answers and justice for there child!
