(Kaieteur News) – Police are investigating the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis found during an operation at Mahdia Arcade, Region Eight, on Friday, April 10, 2026, between 09:00 hrs and 10:50 hrs.
According to a statement from the police, ranks carried out searches in and around the Mahdia Arcade when they discovered a bulky black plastic bag concealed in an abandoned area beneath old wood and plastic. The bag contained leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. The suspected narcotic was taken to the Mahdia Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 100 grams before being lodged. No arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing, police said.
