Kaieteur News- The Amerindian community of Kabakaburi in the Upper Pomeroon River of Region Two will soon have a health post to serve its residents.
The health post is estimated to cost $31,690,000.
The project, which went out to tender through the Regional Democratic Council of Region Two, was opened recently at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office, where it was revealed that seven contractors have applied for the contract.
According to NPTAB, the bidders are: Payless General Store – $31,478,510, Andrect Engineering & Construction – $30,857,280, Paramlall Goberdhan Contracting – $26,943,130, Laurenzo Barber Shop, Weeding, Supplies & Contracting Services – $31,058,405, Ganesh Jeet Contracting Services – $30,379,670, S.Singh Contracting Service – $30,199,880, and Visho’s Hollow Blocks & Trucking Service – $30,199,880.
This publication understands that the project will be funded by this year’s Regional Administration’s $2.1 billion budget allocation for health programmes and projects.
Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, said on numerous occasions that the government is constructing health centers and posts across the country to complement the regional hospitals and ensure modern facilities for healthcare workers across the regions.
This is aimed at decentralizing and expanding the range of public healthcare services provided to citizens, enhancing accessibility for communities nationwide.
