Kaieteur News- Dem boys seh Guyana is not a real place. De government holding public meetings all over de country, but yuh could swear is PPP Congress dem hosting. Everywhere yuh turn is red shirt, red hat, red banner, red eye! One man seh he show up in a green jersey and people look at he like he was a PNC spy or worse—a man wid independent thought!
Dem boys seh de meetings supposed to be government business. Taxpayers money paying fuh microphone, stage, tent and even de water. But somehow, de thing turn into a party rally. Is like yuh go fuh ventilate your problems and end up at a campaign launch!
Wha mek it worse, is when government people start talking like dem on a soapbox. One man forget is not Freedom House he deh, and start holler out how PPP doing wonders. Another one seh under PPP, rain falling better and mango sweeter.
And don’t talk ’bout de security. One big official show up wid he bodyguards all dressed in red. Dem boys seh is either fashion week or is a case of buy one get one free. Is like people come from Red Square in Russia.
But de best part was official who sit at de head table bold-face in a party cap. Not even a lil subtlety! Is like he confused public service with party service. Dem boys seh he probably think GMSR is short fuh “Guyana Mek Sure yuh Vote Red”.
Dem boys seh if yuh want to know how to separate government from party, just don’t wear red to dem meetings. And see how quick yuh get a funny look, no handshake, and a seat near de back.
Till then, red is de new national colour. Forget black, gold and green—red tek over.
Is only in Guyana yuh could vote once, but feel like yuh living in a campaign season fuh life.
Talk half. Leff half!

(Kaieteur News) – My position on Hon Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill relative to the MV Barima tragedy is well known. Calls for his resignation or termination is mistaking a sardine for a shark. The tragedy is bigger than a minister (or two), bigger than the Cabinet. It reaches to...Freedom of speech is our core value at Kaieteur News.
