Motorcyclist killed by minibus at Moblissa
Kaieteur News- A driver lost control of a minibus on Monday along the Soesdyke Linden Highway at Moblissa and crashed into a motorcycle killing its rider.
Police identified the dead motorcyclist as 39-year-old Markind Jackson of Silver Hill, Soesdyke Linden Highway.
According to police, the deadly crash took place around 22:00hrs. The minibus-driver, Maurice Meredith, 54 of Wismar Linden, Region Ten was reportedly heading south while the motorcyclist was riding in the opposite direction.
Police said the bus driver ended-up in the motorcyclist’s lane after losing control. Not only did the bus knock down Jackson and his bike but it also crashed into a parked car.
Jackson sustained severe injuries and was left unconscious on the road while Meredith was trapped in the bus in a semi-conscious state.
A passing vehicle stopped to render assistance and reportedly rushed both Meredith and Jackson to the to Linden Hospital Complex. Jackson was pronounced dead on arrival while Meredith was admitted and remains a patient at the facility under police guard.
Investigations continue.
