Kaieteur Sports- The stage is set and the adrenaline is building as the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League Season VII returns to the premier football facility, the National Training Centre in Providence for another thrilling weekend of doubleheaders.
After a dramatic set of fixtures last week, fans can expect nothing less than intensity and ambition as teams chase their first win, defend their unbeaten records, and continue their climb toward a share of the $4.5 million cash pot. With $2 million up for grabs for the champions and substantial rewards for the top four finishers, every point counts.
It was a nightmare weekend for defending champions Guyana Defence Force (GDF) FC, suffering a second defeat of the season in a shock result against Den Amstel FC. With the game level 1-1 at halftime, a 60th-minute strike from Jamal Robinson proved to be the difference, sealing a statement win for Den Amstel.
Fruta Conquerors FC, meanwhile, cruised past Mainstay Goldstar FC with a confident 3-1 victory, while Western Tigers FC edged Santos FC thanks to a clutch 59th-minute goal by Tyric Mc Allister. Slingerz FC also continued their impressive form, staying undefeated with a win over Guyana Police Force (GPF) FC.
Tomorrow (Saturday) at 6:30 PM Mainstay Goldstar FC will tackle Monedderlust FC. Both teams are hungry for a win. With pressure mounting and points needed, this clash promises grit and determination from the opening whistle.
Ann’s Grove and GPF will battle under the lights in a fixture that could go either way. GPF will be eager to bounce back after last week’s loss, but Ann’s Grove is more than capable of causing an upset.
Sunday fixtures: Den Amstel enters with momentum after last week’s upset win, but Santos FC has been in fine form recently and will be aiming to derail that streak. With both teams already on the win column in Season VII, expect a high-tempo contest.
To cap off the weekend, Slingerz FC, the only team still undefeated, will look to make it four wins in a row. But Western Tigers, buoyed by their narrow victory last week, will come prepared to challenge the league leaders and make a statement of their own.
With high stakes and fierce competition, this weekend’s action is set to be unmissable. Feel the adrenaline. Witness the action. Be a part of the Elite League family, where competition meets opportunity.
