Kaieteur News- Three persons were arrested by police on Thursday night after they were nabbed with 27.2 kilograms of cannabis during a police search at Haurauni Village, Soesdyke-Linden.
The three arrested are; 34-year-old a housewife, Akeda Gordon, 27-year-old Kareem Gordon and 32-year-old Kerwin Dos Santos. Police reported that the trio was arrested around 23:00hrs. It was stated that ranks stopped a white Toyota Axio motorcar, with registration number PAH 4254, which was proceeding west along the highway. At the time, the lone occupant in the car was the driver, Dos Santos.
However, police observed that a white Toyota Allion motorcar, with registration number PAH 2633, stopped around 200 yards behind Dos Santos. Police said that the vehicle was driven by Akeda Gordon, along with the occupant, Kareem Gordon.
Police said in the report, “Kerwin Dos Santos was then asked if the two cars were travelling together and he said, ‘Yes’. The ranks subsequently approached the second car and requested to search the vehicle, to which the female driver complied.” Upon searching, ranks opened the car truck and found three large bulky plastic parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis.
As such, the trio was told of the offence committed, cautioned and arrested. Police then took possession of the suspected marijuana which weighed to 27.2 kilograms. The three were placed in custody, pending further investigations.
