Kaieteur News- A realtor and a taxi-driver were placed on bail on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting each other.
The defendants, 36-year-old Parsram Singh of Lot 582 Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, and 31-year-old Gavin Bhagwandin of Lot 41 Dennis Street, Sophia, Georgetown appeared before Senior Magistrate, Sunil Scarce, at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court.
Singh was charged for using abusive language and assaulting Bhagwandin on March 22, 2025 at Good Hope. Meanwhile, Bhagwandin was charged for unlawfully wounding Singh on the same day at the said address. Singh received laceration to his head and temple. Both men pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Scarce granted Bhagwandin $40,000 bail for the unlawful wounding charge, while Singh was granted $20,000 bail for the assault charge and self-bail for the abusive language charge. The defendants were instructed to stay 500 feet away from each other and should not communicate with each other. The matter was adjourned to April 7, 2025.
