Teacher ask: “If tax is 20% and yuh fada wuk fuh $50,000, how much tax he pay?”
Likkle boy seh: “$100.”
Teacher shake she head. “Try again. If tax is 30% and he mek $100,000, how much?”
Likkle boy seh: “$100.”
Teacher start fuh sweat. “Alright, last one. If tax is 50% and he earn $1 million, how much?”
Likkle boy seh: “$100.”
Teacher vex now. “Yuh don’t know yuh percentages!”
Likkle boy grin. “Miss, you don’t know meh fada.”
But dem boys know dat de Gee R A is serious place. It remind dem boys of de time when a man tun up in a big crowd wid a fat, juicy lemon. He squeeze it till it dry like de Treasury when de Pee N Cee leff office in 1992. Den he bawl out, “Anybody who could get one more drop, I gon give dem $100!”
Strong man come, gym man come, even market lady wid strong hand come—nobody could get one more drop.
Then one skinny lil man step up, tek de lemon, and squeeze out two more drops just like dat!
Big man shock. “Who you deh?” he ask, handing over de $100.
Lil man grin. “Me? I am a tax officer at de Gee R A.”
Talk half. Leff half.
