2025 CWI Regional 4-Day Championships Round 5….GHE vs. WWIV Day 1
Kaieteur Sports- Defending champs Guyana Harpy Eagles had their return to Providence spoiled by rain as the Windward Islands Volcanoes will bank on a set Jeremy Solozano to carry his bat come today when Day 2 action continues, with one eye on the weather.

Windwards opener Jeremy Solozano will look to carry on today as he battles a star-studded Eagles bowling unit and the weather.
Guyana welcomed both teams back to her shores with mixed weather, which set up a stop-start day of cricket which eventually ended after play was stopped due to heavy rain.
Veteran opener Solozano carried his bat throughout weather-affected day to end on 43 not out from 89 with captain Alick Athanaze (9*) by his side, with the two looking to commence repairs today with the Windwards on 77-2 after 27 overs.
Weather forced a change in plans for both teams over the next few days, with a much slower surface likely suitable for the spinners, as Guyana utilized five bowlers including a returning Keemo Paul.
Off-spinner Kevin Sinclair got the first breakthrough and ended on 1-28 from 12 overs, further making his spells today all the more crucial for Guyana.
Leading Harpy Eagles pacer Ronaldo Alimohamed was the pick of the lot, grabbing 1-15 as he, Nial Smith (0-6) and Paul (0-6) could have important roles should the weather change.
Windwards opener Stephan Pascal (0) was bowled over by Sinclair after just four deliveries while Kavem Hodge pushed a delivery from Alimohamed into the gloves of wicket-keeper /skipper Tevin Imlach after hitting 3 fours in his 17.
Solozano then kept his cool as a veteran, finding the fence on five occasions to help carry his score into the 40’s, while helping his team recover from a tense patch, as he and his skipper battled a number of rain delays through the first day session.
Action resumes today from 11:00h weather permitting. (Clifton Ross)
