Dear Editor,
I am a shop owner for many years. I have been buying shop licence from GRA and here are the documents, I have to present every year:
Understandably, most of these documents should be required, because they can expire yearly.
However, #1 and #2 seems redundant since they won’t change, and GRA has these records on their computer. I’m 100% sure this is a fact; they send me mails to make quarterly tax payments. Why is it I have to present evidence of these documents when they already have it.
These documents are approximately close to 20 pages of paperwork and that’s just from my small business. Imagine now, all the businesses in Guyana are doing this and some which have more complex documentations. I can only imagine that mountain of repetitive paperwork that GRA has stockpiled somewhere.
It is these very small and simple problems that Guyana has in each entity of government offices that makes getting simple, routine tasks which would just take a few minutes ends up taking days, and weeks.
Yours respectfully,
R. Singh
