Kaieteur News – Guyana is now under invasion. But not from our neighbours to the West. De invasion been on for months now but de authorities nah bother to tell we.
Dem mosquitoes bin sneaking around like undercover agents, spreading more than just their wings – dem spreading diseases like dengue. While they been attacking our citizens with sniper fire, the Ministry of Health, de agency tasked with defending against dese pests were asleep.
Three souls done meet dem maker, and two lil’ ones may have also been their victims. Yet only now we hearing ’bout di dengue cases bursting at the seams like a squeezed orange. Wha’ kinda catnap dem authorities bin tekkin’? Was dey waiting for di mosquitoes to come with a big flashing neon sign saying, “Welcome to the Mosquito Circus”?
And now de invasion is expanding. Mosquitoes now attacking in battalions and battalions. People got demselves on lock-down, barricading in deh homes at sundown. De blood-sucking fiends gat we running fuh de cover of we homes and hiding under mosquito nets!
So, what’s di grand plan from our so-called health gurus? Where are di battle plans? Where di cavalry riding in to save di day? Ah, but maybe they too busy swatting at imaginary flies.
While we waiting for dem to get dem act together, we gotta arm ourselves with more than just mosquito nets and insect repellent. We need humor, we need sass, we need to laugh in di face of adversity – or else we might as well be donating our blood to the mosquito overlords!
So, here’s to di brave warriors battling against di tiny terrors, fighting for our comfort and sanity amidst di buzzing chaos. And here’s to dem health authorities, may they wake up from their siesta and join di fray before we all become part of di mosquito buffet!
