Kaieteur News – The third suspect in the murder of 17-year-old Patentia, West Bank Demerara (WBD) teen was captured on Friday, police said.
The teen, Aron Bess was killed by a group of teenagers who reportedly lashed and stabbed him several times about his body. Bess had just left a relative’s birthday party in Patentia and was headed to a shop to buy a drink when tragedy struck.
Police Commander Region Three, Mahendra Siwnarine told Kaieteur News that the suspect was apprehended on Friday afternoon. Kaieteur News understands that the three suspects are to be charged this week.
Meanwhile, Police disclosed that on March 20, 2024 at about 21:30h, while on his way to a shop, Bess was attacked by the suspects who pelted him with bottles and bricks.
Police said that the attack stemmed from an old misunderstanding. “As Bess continued his journey, the suspects approached him, and one of the teens dealt him two lashes with a piece of steel while the other teen took out a knife from his waist and dealt him several stabs about his body,” the police reported. After committing the attack, the suspects fled the scene.
It was reported by the police that after Bess was attacked, he was picked up by residents in the area and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said upon examination of his body, wounds were discovered to his left upper chest, left lower stomach area and right-side neck (jugular vein). His body was later taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home where a post-mortem was conducted.
This publication was informed that a 17-year-old school dropout and another teen were the first to be apprehended and it was a 16-year-old student from Skull City, Patentia who went into hiding.
Kaieteur News was told by a relative that Bess had lost both of his parents at a young age and that he was residing with his grandfather before he met his demise. He leaves to mourn a sibling and other relatives.
