Kaieteur News – As the world observed International Women’s Day on March 8th, renowned pageant director, marketing specialist and entrepreneur Melicia Partab Alli opened her signature Eye Candy Shoppe to the public.
Located on Thomas Street, Kitty in Georgetown, the unquie beauty and gift Shoppe caters for skincare and beauty products together with gift items for customers to choose from. As a marketing profesional, Alli started working in the beauty and creative industry and found her love for makeup and beauty products. This convinced her to start her brand Eye Candy by Mel in 2014, focusing initially on makeup artistry services and products.
In 2021, Alli participated with Eye Candy at the inaugural We Lift exhibition, for the observation of International Women’s Day, hosted by Dr. Vindhya Vasini Persaud- Minister of Human Services and Social Security.
The exhibition created an avenue for many women own businesses and network with other businesses for growth. With just two tables of products, the exhibition undoubtedly became an amazing opportunity and experience that saw great traction for the brand.
As such, Eye Candy came bigger and better for We Lift 2 in 2022 with larger product displays. The expansion of products offered and the brand was able to have an inflow of greater networking, sparking the idea of one day having a physical location.
It was later in 2022, that Alli decided to create a space to sell beauty and skincare products on a regular basis by joining Guyana’s original collaborative space for female entrepreneurs, the Babe Cave. Here she was able to grow the brand. The Babe Cave which is founded by Amber Low played a significant role in the development of the brand Eye Candy which in the span of two years moved from one shelf, to five shelves and now to its own store.
Melicia’s hidden secret is to provide quality and trendy brands to make everyone feel much more confident and beautiful while creating a friendly and courteous atmosphere.
The Eye Candy Shoppe is open to the public on Mondays-Fridays: 10:00am to 06:00pm and Saturdays: 10:00am to 03:00pm, and can be contacted on social media @eyecandyshoppegy and telephone: 592-688-0036.
