Kaieteur News – A two-year-old boy, who was on Friday filled with joy when he collected his gift from Santa Claus, died on Saturday morning after he fell into the Essequibo River near the Kurupukari crossing.
Dead is Marlon Felix.
Reports are that the toddler’s mother took him to a beach a short distance upstream from the crossing along the river. The young mother and other residents were washing clothing at the river side when they discovered that the child was missing. A search immediately commenced and sometime later, his body floated to the surface of the water.

Marlon Felix was playing on a beach near the Kurupukari Crossing on the Essequibo River when he slipped into the water.
On Friday, the child was among several other children who collected gifts when oil and gas company, Repsol in collaboration with Iwokrama Rainforest Lodge, brought Christmas cheer to children at the Kurupukari Primary School. He was expected to attend school from next September.
