Dear Editor,
Wake up Guyana!
Slumber not one moment longer
The enemy gathers at our doors
In great numbers, raging
And armed to the teeth,
Frothing and fuming and itching to bite,
Their mouths drooling over our Dear Essequibo:
A gripe that was settled decades ago,
But we will stand our ground,
And not budge a single inch,
We will confront them
As One People
Wake up fellow Countrymen!
Do not waste time bickering
While the enemy slithers nearby, snickering
In dispisement of our pettiness,
We must show our tenacity,
Forge our courage, our iron wills, our alls
Into One Nation of diamond mettle
That cannot be crushed
By the enemy’s evil ettle
Wake up Compatriots!
By fate we were thrust togather
In this Homeland Guyana,
Ordained to share One Destiny
For worse, or for better,
Now we face one common foe
And we will not turn around or run,
They will not prevail:
“lil’ axe cut down big tree!”
Thank you,
Yours respectfully,
Alvin Smith

(Kaieteur News) – I like it. More money for Guyanese workers. Not private sector minimum wage workers, regrettably.
