– Rampersaud bags 8 wickets
Kaieteur Sports – Guyana dismantled Windwards Islands by 189 runs to seal an emphatic win thanks to excellent all-round work in both departments, as they gained some much needed momentum ahead of their next battle.
In a turnaround win, Guyana who were shot down for a paltry 69 in their first innings, managed to keep Windwards Islands to 86 all out during their 1st innings.
Guyana’s Joshua Rampersaud bagged 5-18 giving his team the juice they needed as skipper Mavindra Dindyal (77), Shamar Yearwood (64) and Zeynul Ramsammy (59) took their side to a whopping 265-9 in the 2nd innings.
Facing a tall order, the Windward Islands boys folded under pressure and were blown away for record low 59 in 31.5 overs. There was a breathtaking-spell from Aryan Persaud, which yielded a career-best 7-6 from 10. 5 overs, including 6 maidens.
Rampersaud, who bagged 5 wickets in Guyana’s 1st bowling innings, followed up with 3-28, ending with a match haul of 8-46. Persaud also finished the match with 8 wickets after adding 7 to his 1 victim he bagged in the first.
