Kaieteur News – During the recent opening of bids at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office it was revealed that the Supreme Court of Judicature is looking to construct two guard huts in its compound for an estimated cost of $15,715,910.
According to the description of the project, a guard hut will be constructed at the South Road Entrance of the Supreme Court and this is estimated at $7,848,955, while at the Charlotte Street Entrance, works there is estimated at $7,866,955.

While two guard huts are estimated to cost some $15 million, the Ministry of Housing and Water has offered land and house under its Young Professional home programme for the tune of $13,900,000.
It should be noted that the cost estimated to build the guard huts is even more than what it cost for a plot of land and a house under the Ministry of Housing and Water Young Professional Housing programme. In an article on its website the Housing Ministry stated that the young professional, single flat units are being sold at a total of $13.9 million inclusive of the cost of the land- $1 million. These units each sport three bedrooms, one self-contained room. At the opening also, bids were read for the Improvement of Water Supply System at Bamboo Creek, Region Eight. This contract is expected to cost around $33,255,000. The Guyana Water Inc. is the procuring entity of this project.
