The time has come to go cold turkey from all the YouTube videos about Guyana
Dear Editor,
There are so many videos on YouTube about Guyana that range from the asinine to vapid. I can’t believe that someone would film inside of a car for 10 minutes about non-moving traffic on the West Bank public road or one of the always clogged streets in downtown Georgetown while purporting such as being of some sort of attraction for gullible viewers.
I recognised the freedom of choice to watch these banal and ever growing self- promoting videos, but I am concerned that the Ministry of Tourism is being nonchalant about the delusional beliefs that these videos promote Guyanese culture.
Then there is the monies received from paid advertisements and subscriptions. Given the exponential growth in these YouTube videos, I am curious to know how the GRA go about taxing these income or how they are reported. I suggest a special tax to be paid to the Ministry of Tourism to be used for the production of high quality promotional videos…enough about brain numbing videos about traffic jams , filthy municipal markets and most of all minibuses
