Kaieteur News – GTT’s Home Solutions and Fixed Networks have connected over 600 homes to its high speed Fibre service within just five days of another phase of rolling out the service to several communities across the country to better the internet connectivity of an additional 20,000 homes before the end of the year.
The company said in a statement to the press that over the past weekend it launched the service in Leonora, Essequibo Islands – West Demerara (Region Three) and also extended Fibre access from 7th to 17th Avenue in Diamond, Demerara – Mahaica (Region Four).
According to GTT, collectively, over 3000 homes will benefit from this improvement in internet access within the two communities. More than a 1000 persons promptly registered for the service; hundreds of them were immediately connected.
Within the coming days, the company said the remainder of the Diamond community is also expected to get access to the Fibre service along with several other communities across the country. Chief Operations Officer of GTT’s Home Solutions and Fixed Networks, Eshwar Thakurdin said that as Fibre becomes available to more communities, residents can upgrade to a more reliable solution which Fibre provides.
“Fibre is the future; it’s more reliable, the quality is consistent and it doesn’t age and degrade due to weathering,” said Thakurdin. He also highlighted the option of a customer keeping their current landline number even while upgrading to Fibre.
“If you have a traditional landline and you have Fibre in your home, we encourage you to access Fibre+Voice, it’s going to work out much cheaper and you wouldn’t have to pay a rental for your landline service. Additionally, customers get free minutes and also several free call features such as call waiting and three-way calling”
Recently the company doubled speeds on Fibre plans. Customers now get from 100 Mbps up to 300 Mbps and the option of an additional voice component with up to 10,000 free minutes.
In Leonora, Savitrie Lakraj, a Neighborhood Democratic Councilor of the Stewartville / Cornelia Ida NDC, represented the community at the launching of the Fibre service. She expressed gratitude to GTT for the improvement in internet connectivity within the community. She too has switched to GTT’s Fibre.
“I think everybody would be happy with the service and we thank you on behalf of the NDC” Savitrie said.
She received a token of appreciation from GTT’s Sales Manager of Home Solutions, Conley Baxter – Dennis. GTT’s Business Solutions and sister agency Mobile Money Guyana (mmg+) were also a part of the outreaches to the two communities.
