Kaieteur News – During the opening of tenders on Tuesday last, at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), six bids were received for projects under the purview of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) which are to construct core houses in Regions Three and Four.
The government’s core homes programme is one being financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) which falls under the CH&PA’s Adequate Housing and Urban Accessibility Programme. These projects are divided into 14 lots and a total account of the engineer’s estimate pegged the works at $314,502,860.
The contractors vying for the contract to execute the construction of these houses are Cemmex Procurement and Contracting Inc., Ivor Allen, A & J General Contracting Service, General Procurement and Construction, Elite Construction, and R. Kissoon Contracting Services.
Bids also opened for the construction of two Neighbourhood Democratic Council offices, one at Cane Grove which is estimated at $15 million and the other at La Grange-Nimes estimated to cost $18 million. These are projects which fall under the purview of the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.

Construction of reinforced culvert at Central Matthew’s Ridge, Matarkai, Region One.
Upgrade of Number Naught Disposal Site, Region Six.
Construction of storm-water sedimentation and control pond at Haags Bosch Sanitary Landfill.
Upgrade of Leguan Disposal Site, Region Three.
Upgrade of Wakeenaam Disposal site, Region Three.
Closure and restoration of Babu John Dumpsite, Region Six.
GUYSUCO
Supply and delivery of one steam turbine with reduction gearbox for Rose Hall Factory.
Ministry of Legal Affairs
Procurement of computer hardware and accessories – Guyana Police Force, Police Regional Divisions 1 to 10.
Consulting firm: consultancy, sentencing guidelines (encompassing diversion & alternative sentencing options).
Ministry of Public Works
Expression of interest: Consultancy services for the redesign of an existing road network on the East Coast of Demerara; Belfield to Rosignol.
Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation
Construction and installation of 204 anchor blocks for the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
Ministry of Home Affairs
Construction of senior officers living quarters at the Lusignan Prison.
