Dear Editor,
Could the present Minister of Health say what is the present status regarding the Specialty Hospital? I wrote in the year 2018 and the then Minister of Public Health replied stating that the present government is trying to locate a piece of land on the east coast of Demerara to build the hospital.
The Specialty Hospital is an arrangement between the government of India and the Guyana government.
For a long time now, most of the tradesmen in Guyana are of the shortcomings as stated below.
-Dishonest in their dealings with clients, taking money advances in order to purchase materials,
-And never showed back with the materials.
-Unreliable in meeting agreed timelines.
-Sometimes slip shod work performance.
I would suggest very strongly that thru the consumers’ association, and government, that a code of conduct be established, and if on default penalties should apply, they should all be licenced.
On the Georgetown Seawalls, I have written three times on this subject most recently, last week. I wrote on the lawlessness that goes on. On the seawall on a daily basis, trampolines, unruly vendors, loud, loud music, etc. I said before now, that there is a lot of space on the western side of the Georgetown Seawall, and therefore all the vendors, trampolines, music should be moved down there.
As I said before, that an enhancement programme was undertaken by the First Lady, she did a good job with millions of Guyanese taxpayers’ money spent on this project. I now got the feelings that this project was just a “show” by the First Lady. My question to her is, when last did she visit the Georgetown Seawall to see the lawlessness that goes on? she must go there on a visit, unannounced.
Best regards,
