DEAR EDITOR,
We are pleased to read that Guyana is lifting another tanker load of oil this week, representing the country’s share of production from the Liza Phase 1 Development. This comes at a time when Brent is trading around $75 a barrel, the highest it has ever reached since oil production began in the South American country in December 2019.
Every Guyanese should be pleased with this news, and at the same time wondering if our living conditions would be improved. In several Third World countries especially, in Africa people are suffering. Despite they are oil producing countries, the vast majority live in poverty in Nigeria and in Africa. It is our hope that the poor people in Guyana and children benefit directly from our oil wealth
Yours faithfully,
Rooplall Dudhnath
