DEAR EDITOR,
I admit I was numbered among many persons in Guyana and around the world who were skeptical about the anti-Covid-19 vaccination.
My wife, an experienced medical practitioner, persuaded me or should I say instructed me to have the vaccine.
So it was that, with my mother-in-law, we three proceeded to the Ministry of Health, in Brickdam using the Vlissengen Road entrance.
The process was relatively speedy and every member of the staff, clerical, medical and technical were courteous and considerate, and this included the security personnel at the gate, who greeted us with a smile and directed us where to go.
I was once a regular blood donor and have had to have blood taken for medical check-ups in the UK, US, the Caribbean and Guyana.
The injection I had was painless and the best I had in my many decades of adulthood and this is by far the easiest; I congratulate the technicians.
We were directed to a holding bay to stay for 15 minutes, in case there was any adverse reaction.
Whilst there, a member of staff came into enquire if we were alright.
Sitting next to me in that area was a 96 years old lady, who was quite lucid and obviously, also made to be comfortable.
The tents were air-conditioned with large fans. These added to the wholesomeness of the entire environment.
I wish through this medium to congratulate the Ministry of Health and the persons responsible for the arrangement.
I mark their paper at one hundred (100%) percent.
I also encourage those who shared my skepticism to go forward and have their shot, so that together, we can win the battle against this universal pandemic.
Yours truly,
Hamilton Green
