DEAR EDITOR,
In his column, “Two parallel conversations: we talk past one another (KN, 31st May 2020) Dr. David Hinds posits that Indians do not want to be rule by anyone else but their own.
Really? Is that why so many migrate to Canada, America, Caricom, etc. instead of India and Pakistan?
There is a trust problem in Guyana. Many Indians placed their trust in the PNC led APNU+AFC Coalition in 2011 and 2015 only to have the Coalition let them down so they turned around and voted for the PPP/C in 2020.
Africans have a trust deficit problem in that they are not going to let any other race govern them because of slavery.
The real issue that needs to be addressed at this moment in time is election rigging.
It is despicable that nearly three months after elections, Guyanese are still awaiting the results of the election.
He is correct in stipulating that we are talking past each other. Communication is not just about talking; it is about listening as well.
Yours faithfully
Sean Ori
