Golding’s comments were objective reflection of entire observer team findings

No time was lost in rebuking and refuting the comments of the head of OAS observer mission to our March 2 elections (“APNU+AFC says OAS chief no longer an independent observer” News Room May 13).
The comments offered by the former prime minister, Bruce Golding, were not his personal opinions, hence he was not being subjective, but rather reflected the opinions and views and collaborated conclusion of the entire observer team and by extension the hemispheric organization they represented. Thus the comments offered were objective.
Similar opinions were issued by the Caricom ambassador to OAS. Further to want the former prime minister to comment and form an opinion or take a stance on matters neither he nor his team witnessed is simply playing politics. To deem the head of the observer mission ‘not independent’ and partisan, aligned to the competition is to label and paint the hemispheric body so too.
