The Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) and the entire volleyball fraternity are in mourning following the death of Shawn Sutherland, a former national volleyball player of Guyana who passed away in the USA on Sunday last.
According to a correspondence from the GVF, Sutherland wore the Guyana cap starting in the late 90s. He commenced his career with club Falcons of Canje, Berbice then moved to Vikings of Blairmont in Berbice.
Subsequently, he went on to represent the Vipers volleyball club of Georgetown. During his playing career, the GVF noted that he was a very enthusiastic player and in numerous occasions would deploy of his best to ensure victory for his team.
The volleyball fraternity takes the time out to express its heartfelt condolences to his relatives, friends, associates and co-players. May his soul rest in peace.
