Guyanese are expected to enjoy cheaper travel to the United States of America (USA) as JetBlue is set to commence direct nonstop flights from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) to the John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) on April 2, 2020.
The International carrier is a global, award-winning travel company that operates in approximately 28 countries with a fleet of more than 250 aircraft. Operating out of Guyana will be the Airbus A321Neo, which is one of the airline’s newest additions.
This aircraft provides a 20% increase in fuel efficiency and supports 500 nautical miles of extended range. Each JetBlue Airbus A321neo will be powered by two Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. This type of engine produces less noise and has greater fuel efficiency.
Passengers are also expected to enjoy great comfort since the A321neo features the widest seat available for single aisle Airbus Aircrafts; these are Collins Meridian seats with enhanced cushion comfort, adjustable headrests, power connections and lots of legroom. In addition, on screen entertainment will be provided by 10.1 inch, 1080P high definition screens, with more than 100 live television channels with DVR.
Several other Carriers have traversed the Guyana – North America route in the past, some of these still provide their services to the Guyanese population, among them Caribbean Airlines and American Airlines.
Some could not withstand the demands of the growing competitive Aviation Industry.
Among these were Guyana Airways, GA2000, Delta, Arrow Air, Dynamic Airways, Guy America, Travel Span, Universal Airways, EZ Jet, Fly Jamaica Airways.
