Loyal customers of courts on the Essequibo Coast are definitely feeling the holiday vibes, following the Courts Richmond Branch light up on last Monday night.
The magical event allured hundreds of persons from almost every corner of the Essequibo Coast. Customers particularly look forward to the shopping, which is done earlier in the day.
On this day, customers who shop $49,999 and over, win themselves an opportunity to spin the wheel, which guarantees them a winner.
While parents looked forward to the Courts shopping offers, the kids were only interested in the arrival of one special person, Santa Claus.
When Santa arrived, the uncontained laughter and joyful cries of the children burst through the air, intertwined by the melodious Christmas Carols. At that point, it finally hit everyone; Christmas was just around the corner.
Following a packed programme that catered for the entire family, the Courts building was lit up, since its Richmond branch, unli
ke its Main Street branch, does not have a tree.
Reflecting on how the celebrations began some 25 years ago, the company’s Public Relations Officer, Ms. Roberta Ferguson said, “It began with us lighting the trees, then eventually a little ceremony with us lighting the trees, with the ceremony, we added a few more items until it became what it is today.”
“At Main Street, we have thousands of persons, so we usually block off the entire block, due to the magnitude of customers there… customers eventually asked what about other locations, so the light up was extended to other locations like New Amsterdam, Linden, Bartica, Parika, Richmond and so forth.”
Ferguson pointed out, nevertheless, that they always look out for the special event each year, since for most, it marks the beginning of the festive season. “It’s always an excitement for families, after all the event is for families, targeting primarily children,” said Ferguson.
