SBM Offshore, a world leader in floating production solutions, is in search of candidates who are Guyanese and/or living in Guyana for the position of Production Technician Trainee.
The successful candidate would be expected to attend technical training for eight months outside of Guyana.
The company, whose activities include the design, supply, installation, operation and the life extension of Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels, related that upon successful completion of this training, the individual will work offshore on the Liza Destiny FPSO as a trainee.
Thereafter, continuous development will be conducted until the trainee becomes a fully qualified Production Technician.
Key duties of the Production Technician, according to SBM, must include plant start up, operate, monitor and shut down process and utility systems; monitor, maintain and optimise process parameters (level, flow, temperature, pressure) within operating requirements; ensure sampling is carried out and sample results are acted upon; troubleshooting to maximise sales quality and delivery volume to identify problems; maintain water quality within required standards; facilitate maintenance operations by applying/removing isolations as required; work in a safe manner and in accordance with the Management System and encourage others to do so; and emergency response duties as required.
Qualifications and skills would entail experience with processing systems and utilities considered an asset; must be medically fit according to an offshore International standard such as a Grade One in English Language or equivalent. Furthermore, the applicant must be physically and mentally able to complete extensive offshore training including Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET).
Working conditions include attending a technical school for eight months outside Guyana. Upon completion, the candidate will work offshore on a 28-days onboard / 28 days of leave rotation, 12-hours per day.
The compensatory package includes the permanent, full-time position, a competitive salary, medical and dental benefits and an extensive safety and technical training provided.
Through local affiliate, Guyana Deep Water Operations Inc. (GDO), SBM, Offshore is the Operator of the Liza Destiny FPSO, which will be located in the Stabroek Basin, approximately 200km northeast of Georgetown offshore Guyana.
The company also employs over 4,800 people spread over eight locations, nine operational shore bases and the offshore fleet of vessels worldwide.
