Seven have made it through to the semi-finals after the completion of the preliminary leg of the Post Trivia competition.
They are Desmona Rodney of Buxton, Marecia Braithwaite of Agricola, Lashana Harcourt of Ogle, Onecia Blackett from Mails branch, Alesa Duncan of Danielstown, Andriana Worthen of Mackenzie and Kelon Joseph of Parcels Branch.
The competition which kicks off one week of activities to celebrate World Post Day 2019 took place at the Post Office Training School in Lamaha Street. Two representatives from each of the six areas that cover the length and breadth of Guyana, along with two from the Mails and Parcels branch vied to demonstrate their expert knowledge of the Letter Carrier manual and other relevant facts about GPOC.
Each competitor faced 20 questions, and the top seven respondents were chosen to move onto the semi-final round of the competition, which will take place on Friday, November 15, 2019.
Judging the postmen and women were former Postmaster General Mr. Noel Phillips; recently retired Deputy Postmaster General, Mr. Abdul Hassan; and retired Assistant Postmaster General Leon Dickson. Mr. Dickson is also a member of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Claude Griffith, the Postmaster for Campbellville, functioned as the quiz master.
