I write in response to your article “Teacher-student sex scandal takes surprising turn as mother drops case….”If this happens as you said gives the impression that the parents have a say in how court matters proceed in sexual cases of child victims. To my knowledge this is not correct. This is more a clear case of obstruction of prosecution of a matter.
According to the law the Virtual Complainant must go before the DPP or Court herself and indicate in a statement (in writing or under oath that she no longer wishes to proceed, and also it must be established that the decision was not made due to pressure, coercion force threat or bribery.
