DEAR EDITOR,

The Stabroek News of Thursday June 27, carried an article and photograph of the West Indies Cricket Team and management Staff in England, touring what is considered the home of the most famous Football Team Manchester United, in Manchester Old Trafford.
I can imagine how elated and privileged the team felt. You see a lot of West Indians Footballers ply their trade in England playing for various clubs in the elite Premier League and other clubs in the Football Association (F.A.)
For many West Indians, Manchester United holds a special place in our hearts, it was at that club that Trinidadian Dwight Yorke played, a household name in the Caribbean, and we had the likes of George Best, Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand, Ruud van Nistelrooy, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, the greatest of them all, and also Wayne Rooney – the record goal scorer for England – and the best Football Manager of all time, Sir Alex Ferguson.
Manchester United, the richest and most talked about Club – the Club with the most Silverware. For the West Indies Team and Management Staff and Coaches, it would be difficult for them to put into words the feeling that overcame them while at that ground, and in that dressing room, where so many great footballers the world over once graced.
