Relatives are in search of a missing person after he walked out his home at Yakusari South, Black Bush Polder, between last week Thursday night and
Friday morning. Missing is Chandrabohan “Lionel” Ishmail.
According to Sarswattie Ishmail, a sister of the missing man, her brother who does kitchen gardening and occasionally some fishing, left his home without anyone knowing but has not been located since. However, relatives received information that the man was seen in the 52-55 Savannah area where persons who tend to animals and their crop camp out.
He reportedly asked for a glass of water and left.
“Dem bai pick him up at Yakasari three bridge and carry him down at the back by the creek side where the people dem plant garden and mind cow. He ask them for a drop, so come we know he gone down there because people know him well,” she said.
According to the man’s sister, prior to the day when her brother went missing a neighbour had told him that he has five years to live in the home and on the land and that “dem go tek the land from him”.
She, however, indicated that the plot of land belongs to their family. It was passed down through generations. This, she said, may have been the cause for her brother leaving, “Like he tek on that and leff”.
The woman stated that since she lives at Whim Village she opted to file the report at the Whim Police Station but was deterred by a rank and told that the report has to be made where he was living.
A report was subsequently filed at Mibicuri Station but relatives incurred a cost to do so. She disclosed that relatives had to pay $6000 taxi for the police to visit relatives home and take them back to the station to facilitate the report.
“We are still searching for him”, she said.
