The Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GSMA) yesterday hosted its third agro-processing exhibition for small and medium scale agro-processors.
Through this initiative GMSA not only seeks to give manufacturers an opportunity to bring their products to the local market but at an international level also.
The gates to the UNCAPPED exhibition opened at 10:00hrs yesterday at the Guyana National Stadium, East Bank Demerara. It was scheduled to continue until around 20:00hrs. Hundreds of persons flocked the tents of the manufacturers as they tried to capture a glimpse of Guyana’s produce.

Local agro-manufacturers were not the only persons displaying their produce as proprietors with crafting skills among many other ideas also came out.
Some items on display were hair products, clothing accessories, food ingredients and crafts. Children were treated with bouncy castles and trampolines to keep them busy after visiting the stalls with their parents.
Many visitors appeared impressed with the items on display.
One patron stated that, “It is surprising to see that some of the very things we look for internationally are produced right here locally.”
Another highlighted, that Guyanese should give the locals the relevant support they need to take the nation’s name a far way.
“Persons should always be eager to learn what their country has to offer because that is what will place us on the front line in the global market. We need to support each other if we want to see further development in our manufacturing sector so that when people see or hear about a product they can be like oh yes that is from Guyana.”
According to the GMSA’s annual report, they will soon be embarking on a nationwide public awareness programme to feature agro-processors and their products, and to work with wholesalers and retailers, as well as key sectors such as the tourism and hospitality industries to feature these products.
The event is being sponsored by Sterling Products Limited, GMSA, Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), Ministry of Business, Banks DIH, ExxonMobil Guyana, NAMILCO, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited, John Fernandes Limited; Brand partners include Sagacity Inc. and Star Party Rentals.
