India has named a new High Commissioner to Guyana. He is Dr. K. J. Srinivasa, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday.
He is currently serving in Johannesburg.
“Dr. K. J. Srinivasa (IFS:2002), presently Consul General, Consulate General of India, Johannesburg, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana,” read a government statement.
“He is expected to take up the assignment shortly,” read the statement.
Dr. K.J. Srinivasa assumed his assignment as Consul General of India to Johannesburg on October 17, 2016.
He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2002 and has worked in the Indian Embassy in Madrid (Spain) and Lima (Peru).
Dr. Srinivasa also served as the Regional Passport Officer, Bangalore from September 2010 to April 2013 and was instrumental in the implementation of the Passport Seva Project (PSP). He was Deputy Consul General in the Consulate General of India, San Francisco from April 2013 till July 2016.
He would replace Venkatachalam Mahalingam who came here in 2014.
