Crime Scene ranks are set to travel to Arau, Region Seven, on Saturday to conduct further investigations into the death of United States missionary, Christopher Matthews.
A rank who is familiar with the area, and two Americans who knew the victim, will accompany the team. The terrain is expected to be extremely challenging.
A police official explained that while there was no suspicion about the circumstance surrounding the missionary’s demise, the Force investigates all unnatural deaths.
Reports indicate that Matthews was mountain climbing when he fell to his death. Kaieteur News understands that a postmortem that was performed yesterday revealed injuries that were consistent with the reports of Matthews falling.
The missionary is said to have been the Director of the Kaikan Bible School.
On Monday, a Cessna 182 which was transporting Matthews’ remains to the Ogle airport crash-landed in the backlands at Canal Number Two, West Bank Demerara.
The pilot, Lionel Gomez, reportedly suffered a broken jaw while police Constable Mark Grimmond, the lone passenger, suffered a broken leg and other injuries.
They were rescued several hours later by a Guyana Defence Force team.
