A drinking night ended with 26-year-old Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Lieutenant Mark Bagot, of Lot 21 Philippe Village, Berbice, being stabbed to death last Sunday evening.
The incident took place around 20:00hrs at a popular drinking bar in Philippe Village Berbice, where the deceased was drinking beer with a friend and the suspect.
According to reports the now dead man was drinking with his friend when the suspect walked in. Bagot’s friend reportedly asked the suspect to purchase a round of beer; the man complied.

The men were parted by other patrons of the bar. However, the suspect took out a knife and stabbed Bagot to the chest.
