Five persons are now homeless after a fire completely destroyed the home of a Nurse, Claudia Ross, Wednesday night. The two-storeyed concrete structure is located at Limlair Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
According to Pearl Ross, the mother of Claudia Ross, the fire victim, her grandson called her and told her that her daughter’s house was on fire.
“My daughter was inside the house sleeping and my other son went up and kept knocking on the door for her to open and like when she catch sheself she run and jump over the verandah to escape,” the woman explained. She sustained injury to her right knee.
The neighbours home was also partially destroyed due to the flames but firefighters managed to contain the blaze and save that building. They stated that their furniture and other household items were destroyed. Neighbours stated that the fire started in the upper flat of the building.
Ross is estimating millions in losses. She is currently staying with her mother who lives three houses away, together with her children and her brother.
