Police are investigating the murder of a gold miner whose only name has been given as “Terrible Dog”. He was allegedly stabbed in the region of his stomach by a Brazilian chef, who goes by the alias “Suseh God”
According to a police release, the incident occurred some time around 18:00 hrs on Friday at Chinese Creek Backdam, Puruni River, Region Seven.
Investigations revealed that the victim and the chef were involved in a heated argument over the frying of sausages.
It is alleged that the Brazilian became annoyed and fatally stabbed “Terrible Dog” to the left side of his chest before escaping.
According to information received, persons of the said mining camp are in a habit of regularly consuming alcohol.
Information received by this publication suggested that during the argument, “Terrible Dog” managed to cut the finger of the Brazilian, who then became annoyed and stabbed him to his stomach, causing his intestines to protrude.
The injured man’s wound was attended by persons nearby, before he was taken by boat from the Puruni Landing to the Bartica Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The foreign national is being sought by the police. The body of “Terrible Dog” is at the Bartica Mortuary.
Meanwhile, a team of police from Bartica is already in the Puruni Area to conduct an investigation into the occurrence.
Last October, a miner’s body was found with multiple chop wounds in the Puruni River.
A post-mortem examination (PME) conducted on the body of 51-year-old Kelvin Daly revealed that he died from the wounds he sustained.
The post-mortem examination conducted by State Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh, gave the cause of death as multiple incised wounds.
Daly, a miner of Ann’s Grove Village, East Coast Demerara, was found dead along a trail located about a mile from Puruni Landing, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), by one of his colleagues who was on his way to their camp.
His body bore wounds to his head, back and throat and it is believed that he was killed some time between Sunday and Monday.
