On Sunday last, a 25-year-old man was crushed by a taxi along the One Mile Public Road, Wismar, Linden. Dead is Intieaz Mohamed of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.
According to the Police, Mohamed was run over by a 22-year-old taxi driver of Wisroc Housing Scheme, Wismar, Linden.
The victim was reportedly lying on the road in a drunken state when he was run over by motorcar HC 8814.
This publication understands that the hire car driver felt the impact of running over the body. He supposedly thought he “hit something.”
He then came out of his vehicle and noticed that he had run over a human being. After seeing the body, the driver quickly retreated to his car and drove away.
However, later that day he turned himself into the Wismar Police Station with his vehicle. The motorcar was examined and revealed some damage and had blood stains.
A post-mortem was carried out on the body of Mohamed and revealed that he died as a result of multiple crush injuries. The body has since been handed over to relatives for burial.
