Motorcyclist dead after collision on Mon Repos Public Road
The Police reported that motor lorry GRR 6081, which was driven by a resident of Beterverwagting Housing Scheme, was heading East on the northern side of the road at approximately 1:15 hrs when it came into contact with motorcycle CG 3711, which was proceeding north along the access road, on the southern side of the public road.
The collision reportedly occurred because the motorcycle turned East onto the public road, but was riding too fast to avert contact with the lorry. The driver of the lorry reportedly lost control, resulting in the collision with the motorcycle and the right side of the lorry. The impact catapulted the rider onto the road surface, and his head came into contact with the lorry’s rear right wheel.
The body is awaiting identification and a post mortem at Lyken’s Funeral Home.
The driver of the lorry is currently assisting the police with investigations, and has passed a breathalyzer test.
