Re-starting their investigation, detectives will today question more Kwakwani residents as they seek the killer of midwife Paulette Wade.
Detectives had hoped to make a breakthrough last week when ranks from the Major Crimes Unit had brought three suspects to Georgetown for questioning.
However, all the suspects have been released. An official said investigators plan to question other individuals as well as the slain woman’s relatives.
The main lead that investigators seem to have is the description of an individual who was reportedly seen attacking Wade, and the name ‘Delon’ which Wade reportedly called as she was being beaten.
Wade, 37, who worked at the Kwakwani Hospital, was found dead in her Kwakwani Park, Region Ten home, around 06:30 hrs two Saturdays ago. She had been beaten and manually strangled.
Wade’s seven-year-old daughter found the body and ran to the Kwakwani Hospital to inform her mother’s colleagues. The child, who slept with her mother and brother, said she woke up some time on Friday night and heard sounds of a scuffle.
Although the light was off, the child was able to make out a ‘dark-skinned short man’, who was reportedly shirtless and clad in a pair of short pants. The man was reportedly kicking Wade and the child allegedly heard her mother calling out the name of ‘Delon.’
Police have ruled out robbery and confirmed that there was no sign of forced entry to Wade’s home. It is suspected that Wade knew the killer. Meanwhile, at Baramita, police will today charge the reputed husband of 23-year-old Ruthina Thomas for her murder. Thomas’ body was found on a trail on October 24. She was beaten and manually strangled.
Police were told that Thomas and her reputed husband were last seen drinking at several bars.
