Dear Editor,
I would like to know why two van loads of CANU officers stormed into my brother’s house last night. They claimed to be looking for drugs and ammunition. This is frightening. This is nothing but harassment from these officers. We are demanding an explanation.
We suspect that these officers were deliberately sent to our home to harass my brother by a known individual. Please attack me and please do not attack my brother. Let him live in peace.
My brother is a poor farmer. My brother is surviving in this hard economy through financial help from me. My brother is a poor man. We are poor law abiding citizens. My brother does not own guns and drugs. This is not how we live. These officers need to knock this off. And we are demanding an apology and we need to be treated right.
Mr Ramjattan needs to intervene. The poor people in this country need to live in peace. My brother and his family are fearful for their lives. Officials need to take action. This is a desperate situation facing my brother and his family. If anything goes wrong with my brother, we know who to point our fingers to.
Our human rights are violated daily. We are living under gross inhumanity. We are asking for officials of this country to urgently intervene in this matter. We are also asking for the international human rights bodies, the diplomat community and others to intervene in the daily injustice being carried out on citizens of this country. Living conditions in this country are not right.
Sincerely,
Dr. Baliram
